Excuses, Excuses

Last year at this time, I was getting ready to head to the American Christian Writers Conference in Dallas. This year at this time, I’m doing the exact same thing.

The difference is that while last year I felt pretty good about having typed “The End” at the bottom of a 90.000 word manuscript, this year I realize it wasn’t really ready to submit. So, several drafts later, I think I’ve about got it wrapped up.

I’ll head out next Wednesday and be gone through Sunday. Until then, I’m tying up loose plot ends, formatting, printing out revamped proposals and sample chapters, and getting mentally ready to meet with editors and agents.

And to see some of my favorite friends in the world, my fellow novelists!

If you’ll overlook my lack of blogging for the next couple weeks, I promise to sign a book for you someday.  :)

How’s that for dreaming big?

  7. Big Sister Katy, I so wish I was going to be at the conference again this year. I'd love to hang out with you. Last year was a blast. Unfortunately the ole budget couldn't squeeze out the extra bones. Hopefully next year! Congrats on finishing your novel. :-) Hugs!

  8. Hi, Katie! Teri Kallevig was telling me you have this blog and I should get on and read your entries. Haven't seen you for a while since your kids are grown and you don't come to Full Faith (Cross Points) anymore. Would love to see you sometime.

  9. Suzan--Here's hoping I get to make an acceptance speech on your behalf!!

Carrie K--"Fruitful" would be an excellent outcome, indeed. Thanks!

Alison--If I say all the right things, it will be a first!! :) But there will be some awfully wonderful people there....

bananie--You have encouraged me from the beginning!!! (We long-time bloggers stick together, eh?) I remember the first email you ever sent me. You had found my blog and said, "You are a writer." Such an affirmation! Thank you.

Galadriel--So you WERE a cheerleader??? I have never had a cheer created just for me. That was VERY special.

lisa--Girlfriend, I will give you one for free, I'll be so excited if that day ever comes..... :)

Lisa--I will miss you, little sis! I was hoping we'd show up in matching dresses at the banquet again! Fun times.

Mary Anne--Wow!! So fun to find you here. Yeah, kids all grown and graduated and gone. Carrie got married in June, also. How are those boys of yours?? Would enjoy seeing you, as always.....
